Charles mediates between Arthur and Rosemary, and Arthur apologizes to Phyllis. Gates and Arthur resume business as usual at Larkfield Manor.

Mrs. Gates speculates that Phyllis is serious about Jack Poole, the gentleman she's bringing to Larkfield Manor for the weekend. Arthur and Elizabeth discuss the growing fondness between herself and Peter Cartland. When Phyllis and Jack arrive, Gates develops an instant dislike for Jack. Peter changes his plans to host Elizabeth, and later, he admits a disturbing secret about the trouble at Layford Park.
