Betty receives a letter from Steven, in which he asks for a divorce. Julie tries to convince her to fight for her marriage. Allison regrets having told Chris' secret, but knows it's for the best. Steven gets into a fight with Chris over him wanting to keep silent about Ann's innocence and Chris claims Allison was lying. Steven makes him tell the truth by threatening to ruin his career future. Eventually, Chris admits Ann didn't push him.

When Ann hears the news about Chris' revealing she's innocent, she announces she finally can have a future. Steven barges into Ada's tavern, demanding a drink, and later tells her Betty has left him. Michael is happy to hear Ann is now officially innocent and they get engaged. Lee offers Chris to move away from Peyton Place with him, but he responds by saying he told Steven that Ann wasn't guilty. Lee is outraged and beats him up. He immediately apologizes, but Chris is full with anger.
