Teachers have always been held in the highest regard and viewed as role models in the eyes of society. Unfortunately, teachers are now underpaid, overworked, and looking for supplemental income because of today’s economy. More than half of all K-12 teachers in the United States earn income from sources other than their teaching salary. There is a growing trend that allows teachers to make their yearly income in just one month: sex work on subscription social platforms. For some teachers, this has allowed them to live a new “American dream.” Why is it acceptable for teachers to work side jobs in retail – and not through sex work? While activists are currently working to combat sex work stigma, critics believe teachers have a moral obligation to their students.
